# 2.6.2 - Hype Engine Vault (HEV)

<figure><img src="/files/7bb6d6e055d6eef2d9892096ce42a6dbf29ef467" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The Hype Engine Vault (HEV) is the default “set-and-forget” path for **nest exchange** users who lock NEST and hold **veNEST**.

It does three things in one place:

* **Distributes MEGAHYPE rewards:** Trading fees earned by veNEST flow through the **HYPE Engine**, where a portion of fee value is converted into [**MEGAHYPE**](/nest-explained/2.6-hype-engine/2.6.3-megahype.md) for aligned stakers.
* **Auto-votes for you (optimally):** Your veNEST voting power is automatically allocated to maximise incentive outcomes, so you don’t need to manage votes manually.
* **Compounding your position:** Rewards are used to buy back NEST and compound into you veNEST position within the vault.
* **Keeps participation simple:** You stay aligned and receive rewards without constant governance micromanagement.

{% hint style="info" %}
[HEV](/nest-explained/2.6-hype-engine/2.6.2-hype-engine-vault-hev.md) is the main way users receive [MEGAHYPE](/nest-explained/2.6-hype-engine/2.6.3-megahype.md) from the system, the only other route is **minting directly via the HYPE Engine**.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
If you want to vote manually or do certain position actions, you may need to **exit HEV first** (Dashboard → Manage position), then re-enter afterward.
{% endhint %}

### HEV lock window (important if you want to withdraw)

<figure><img src="/files/HtuPkxliTBLXnRelwCD9" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If you deposit your veNEST into HEV, it is locked **from Wednesday 23:00 UTC (epoch end) until Monday 00:00 UTC** to stop users manipulating the system.

So if you want to switch back to manual voting, plan around that window.
